Tell Me Why You Love Me (TMWYLM) Page 7
"Didn't you know, brat? I took an early morning stroll." He mouthed 'window' to me and my eyes widened.
I pouted, setting Craig on his feet. "I thought I told you to stop calling me that." I stated.
"And I thought I told you I'd stop when you're older than me." He replied.
"Jerk!" I yelled, storming into the kitchen seeing Miriam humming to herself, cleaning the surfaces. "Morning, Miriam." I said, a yawn escaping my mouth.
She stopped and turned my way with a soft smile. "Morning, sweetie. How are you doing today?" She asked me, that motherly smile on her face.
I shrugged. "Fair. Although I had a slightly rough night, to be honest with you." I mumbled, opening the fridge and taking out the milk and boiling the kettle, making sure to not get in Miriam's way.
"I heard, sweetie. Or more like, I came to check up on you." As she said that, my eyes widened and I saw her amused face.
She laughed as I felt a blush spread across my face. "Don't worry, sweetie. I'll keep last night's scene to myself." She placed a finger on her mouth and winked at me.
I felt pressure being taken off me and I poured the now boiled water into a cup, placing in the teabag and stirring it, before scooping several spoons of sugar into it. "Sorry." I told her in a whisper. "I didn't mean for it to happen, he was just-"
"There's no reason for you to apologise, sweetie." She interrupted me and I turned to her. "Besides, you both looked really cute cuddling together." She commented. My blush grew even wider, if that was possible, and it seemed to make her giggle with delight. She walked up to me and patted my head. "You're such a good kid, Freesia." She added, before walking out of the kitchen, a motherly smile on her face, humming a happy little tune.
"Hey." I heard a familiar voice that made me jolt and blush at the same time. I looked to see Jordan, leaning his body on the kitchen table, a frown on his face. "You seem out of it. What's up?" he asked, a stern tone in his voice. But only a little.
I gave him a smile, finishing making my tea. "It's nothing. Ah-" I turned to him realising something, pointing the teaspoon in my hand at him. "You still haven't given me a good enough reason for last night." I stated, watching his face soften into a smile.
"Alright, what if I told you I didn't want to leave you alone in case you had a nightmare?" He gave me his alluring emerald gaze. But it didn't faze me.
"Then I'd say that's a lie." I replied, throwing the spoon in the sink, then making my way to a seat at the table, Jordan deciding he'd take the seat adjacent to mine.
"Okay, so how about I told you that I just didn't feel like letting you go?" He asked, leaning in to me.
I choked a little on my tea and I looked into his eyes. I couldn't see any lies through them. Was that the truth? It couldn't be. I scoffed at him. "Oh please." I rolled my eyes and continued sipping my tea.
"So, what if I told you I just wanted you all to myself?"
"Then I'd say you were delusional." I stated, standing up and pouring the remainder of my tea down the sink, then placing the cup in the sink. I walked out of the kitchen to the TV where the twins were sitting, fighting over the remote.
When I saw the remote within my grasp, I took the opportunity to grab it, surprising both the boys and I gave them each a smirk. "Guys, fighting isn't going to get you anywhere!" I stated, as I swerved my way around the couch and sat on the armchair nearby, sitting sideways and flicked through the channels on the TV. "Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap... Oh!... Crap."
I know the TV is bad, but not THIS bad! I threw the remote to the twins and they caught it at the same time and started fighting for it again. I rolled my eyes and made my way outside to see Craig up at the hill, staring at the Ocean. Idea!
I swivelled around to the twins, Jordan now beside them trying to stop them from fighting endlessly. "Hey, guys!" I got their attention and they all looked at me at the same time. "Why don't we head to that beach over there?" I proposed and the boys looked at one another.
"Sure"
"Pass"
No doubt the one who passed was Jordan. I gave him a glare. "You're coming as well!" I stated with my hands on my hips.
"Oh really?" He walked up to me, bending to meet me eye level. "You gonna make me, brat?" he asked, his face just a few inches away from my face.
"If I have to, yes." I told him, meeting his gaze.
He laughed at me and placed a hand on my head. "You're such a kidder, little brat! Like you'd be able to get me to-" He stopped when he noticed I raised my leg. I gave him a menacing smirk and he knew what I was implying. "You dare and I'll-"
I swung it towards him with speed, but, before my leg impacted his stomach, he moved his hand fast enough to catch my leg. Uh oh. I looked to him, seeing a smirk on his face.
"You dare." I gave him a scowl.
"I dare." he answered, lifting my leg up, causing my body to fall back and I landed on my arse. He burst out in laughter.
I pushed myself up, rubbing my arse. It hurt, considering I landed on a tiled floor. I gave him a smirk as I brushed myself off and removed the scarf from my neck. "I'm not letting you get away with that, y'know." I stated as I slowly made my way towards him.
I saw his eyes catch on to what I was going to do and he bolted. "Hey! Joe, Josh! Give me a hand cornering him!" I yelled to them.
They got to their feet and gave me a salute. "Yes, ma'am!" they replied at the same time, a grin on both their faces and they ran after Jordan.
I looked outside and yelled after Craig. "Hey! Craig!" I saw him notice me and turned my way. "Give us a hand tying up Jordan!" I shouted to him.
He gave me a smile and ran down the hill. "Sure!" He laughed, skipping down, careful not to fall, and met me inside the door.
"Joe! Josh! Come here!" I yelled after them and they came running down the stairs, panting. "Where's Jordan?" I asked them.
They both pointed to the stairs. "In... His room..." Their panting was identical, too.
I gave them a smile. "Leave him. I've got an idea..." I huddled the three boys around me and whispered to them my plan.
Chapter 9
"Okay, you guys know the plan?" I asked the boys around me who all nodded with smirks on their faces. "Okay, positions!" I whispered and we all took our spots.
The twins spread a thin wire on the floor just in front of the back door, I hid outside and Craig went to the base of the stairs.
I told him to shout Jordan down since he didn't know Craig was in on this. I saw the twins hide behind the curtains and I hid just outside.
"Jordan! I need your help with something!" I heard Craig yell upstairs.
Just as I thought, Jordan came down, that scowl on his face, completely unaware what was waiting for him. "What's up, squirt?" He asked his younger brother.
"Um, I need help outside. I'm going to mark out a new pitch since the one right now is wearing down with all the mud." I widened my eyes after hearing Craig. He was a good liar! It didn't make me as guilty as I was, previously, for lying to him...
I watched as Jordan took one step after the other, heading closer and closer to the door. Just when he was a few steps from the wire, the twins raised it and tightened the tension as hard as they could.
Craig went for the push and caught Jordan by surprise and he stumbled forward. So far so good...
And then I saw him notice what was happening and he managed to miss the wire and find himself outside. He turned around and scowled at the boys, now out of hiding. "What the fuck are you guys trying to do!?" He yelled at them.
Whilst he was busy trying to get answers out of the others, I sneaked behind him and made a running leap onto his back.
"Fuck! What the hell!?" He yelled as I held a tight grip on him. "What the hell are you doing, you little brat!?" He yelled at me, stopping moving about.
I gave him a menacing smile. "Didn't I tell you? I'll force you to come with us to that beach if I have to. And I won't let go until we're at the beach!" I gave him a smirk, which he answered with a wry smile. U
h oh.
"Oh really? So you're not letting go, no matter what?" He asked. I nodded slowly. What is he thinking? I saw him turn to the other boys with a smirk. "Hey, if you guys help me, I'll let you off the hook and promise to not get back at you!" He bribed them.
"Hey! That's not fair!" I retorted. He turned his head to show me his wry smile and devilish emerald eyes. I didn't like that look at all.
"Run a bath. A cold one." he ordered the boys, still looking at me with that look of his.
"Oh no, you're not." I widened my eyes.
"Oh, yes I am." His smug look appeared.
"B-but, aren't you sacrificing yourself!?" I asked him, clinging onto his back as hard as I could, not losing my grip.
He gave me a laugh. "Anything'll be worth seeing you dripping wet." He stated.
For some reason, I couldn't help but blush at the crude statement. What the hell's happening to me?
Without any more chance to think, Jordan made his way upstairs and to his room, with me still on his back. Wait, to his room? This will be the first time for me entering another boy's bedroom. I wonder what his is like...
"Y'know, I thought you'd be off my back by now." He told me.
"Huh?" I looked at the back of his head. "But I told you I wouldn't get off until we all went to the b-"
"I never realised you were actually serious about it! Normally any person would have run off by now, knowing that they'll be soaked in cold water!"
"Wait, so you mean you-" I gave him a confused look, unsure as to what was going through his head. "You're not planning on dipping me in the bath?" I asked him.
He gave me a laugh and shook his head. "What, you thought I'd be so cold-hearted to get a brat like you soaked to the bone?"
I buried my mouth in his back and looked sheepish. "Maybe..." I mumbled.
"Besides, getting back at three people at the same time is way more enjoyable" He added, obviously ignoring my reply.
I gave him a wide-eyed look. "Hold on, you're going to-" I saw his wry smile and his emerald eyes look at me from the side. "That's just... Brilliant!" I stated to him.
"So, you'll help?" He asked. "And get off my back?"
I gave him a frown. "No, I told you before. And I keep my promises."
I saw Jordan roll his eyes and he heaved a heavy sigh. "Fine. I'll go to the beach with you guys. I promise." When he promised, he looked my way with his twinkling emerald eyes. I knew instantly that the man wouldn't break his promise so I slipped off his back, planting my feet safely on his bedroom carpet.
I watched him go to one of his drawers and took out a large packet of balloons. "I knew these would come in handy someday." He stated, looking my way with a smirk.
I looked to him with a quizzical look. "Wait, aren't you getting back at me? I was the one who told them to do all that." I asked him.
He made his way towards me with a smug look on his face. "Oh, I'm not getting them back for THAT. Let's just say I need to get them back for previous pranks... Besides-" He leaned forward, meeting my eye-level just inches away from my face. "I can get back at you. Any. Time. I. Want." He spoke in a gruff whisper, giving me a smirk, and pulled away as I felt my cheeks flush. "I can only get back at those three when I catch them off-guard. And getting them all at the same time is far more amusing." He added.
Okay, what is up with Jordan? Sure, he’s being a jerk, but a different kind of jerk...
"Get on my back again." I heard Jordan order me, bending his knees.
I gave him a perplexed look, trying to hide my blush. "W-why?" I asked.
He gave me a smug look. "It'll make the others more convinced that I'm getting back at you. Just get on."
I didn't question him further and climbed on his back as I had been previously. But this time my heart was racing ten times faster than before. I just hoped that he didn't hear it resonating on his back.
We left Jordan's room and he shoved the balloons in his pocket, making his way to the large bathroom at the end of the corridor. He opened the door, revealing the three boys standing there with smirks on their faces.
I gave them shocked looks and tried to play my part. "Guys, if you let this jerk dip me, I'll get back at you, too!" They seemed unfazed with my (empty) threat, but that didn't really matter.
"Dunk! Dunk! Dunk!" Craig jumped up with excitement and a large grin on his face.
"Ready, brat? Payback is a sweet, sweet thing." Jordan gave me that smug look again, but his emerald eyes weren't as convincing.
He walked towards the bath and was about to turn and speak to the boys, but we were caught by surprise by the boys, who had turned on us.
"Go!" They all said in unison and pushed Jordan's chest back and he lost his balance, slipping on the floor and then plunging both me and him into the cold bath water.
I shrieked in surprise, and for the fact Jordan was almost crushing me. I. Was. Soaked!
"You fucking idiots..." I heard Jordan strain under his breath, leaning forward, thus freeing me from being smothered. He shuffled over a little, definitely feeling the weight of the water in his clothes and the chill of the water.
Suddenly, the three boys ran out the room, laughing so loud their voices echoed down the corridor.
"You alright?" I heard Jordan's voice and I turned to face him, his lips an unnatural colour.
"Oh my god, Jordan. You're turning blue!" I stated, touching his cheek with the back of my hand. He was very cold.
I felt my hand being held and saw Jordan's eyes staring straight through me. "I'm not the only one, you know." He whispered to me in a slightly gruff voice. "Let's get out of this water before we turn to ice." He strained his body up, revealing his clothes stuck to every inch of his body. He managed to get himself out the tub and carefully helped me out, still holding to my hand. "Easy." He whispered as I felt myself slip a little.
"Thanks..." I whispered, refusing to look at him. I didn't have to, to know he had a plan.
He tapped me with his elbow and took out the packet of balloons he had in his pocket. "We can still get revenge on them if you'd like." I looked to his face, a wry smile on his cold, blue lips.
Miss a chance of sweet revenge? No way in hell! I gave him an enthusiastic nod and returned the look on his face.
We turned and started to fill each of the balloons with the cold water in the bath, until all of them were full. Those boys are in for a whole lot of revenge.
Jordan and I made our way down the stairs in our dripping clothing, our feet squelching with the water and our bodies turning stiff. Yeah, we were stupid for not changing, but we needed revenge as soon as possible for it to be sweet.
We spotted the boys outside on the hill, laughing themselves stupid. I felt a nudge on my shoulder and turned to look at Jordan, raising a balloon up into view. I nodded and we silently made our way out the villa and to the hill, stalking the boys from behind, making sure we remained undetected.
When we were close enough, I cleared my throat. "Hello there, boys." I said sternly, making them all turn in shock, their smug looks fading as they saw ours. "We brought you some gifts!" I stated, before both me and Jordan started bombarding the boys with the water balloons full of freezing water.
"Revenge is so sweet!" Jordan exclaimed as the boys tried shielding themselves with their hands and then resorted to using one another as human shields.
"No! Stop! Both of you! Stop!" They yelled to us as we continued pelting them with the balloons.
They tried running away, but we were hot on their trails, continuously striking them.
"Kids!?" We heard a voice from the villa and we all stopped, turning to see Miriam standing in the doorway, her mouth nearly to the ground. "What is going on?" She asked us.
We all looked at each other and the boys, including Jordan, pointed to me. "She started it!" They yelled.
I turned to give them glares and they just looked at me with smug looks. "Hey! Why am I the one to blame!? I wasn't the one who pushed me and Jordan in the bathtub!" I
yelled to the three boys.
"But Jordan was the one who told us to run the bath full of cold water!"
"But you were the ones who were trying to tie me up!"
"That was Freesia's idea!"
"yeah, because SOMEBODY refused to go to the beach with us AND provoked me!"
"Okay! No fighting!" I heard Miriam cut us all off from our bickering and we looked her way. "All of you change into some dry clothes before you catch a cold." She stated with that sweet, motherly voice and a small smile on her face.
We all gave one another a cold look and mumbled as we made our way back into the villa.
As I stepped onto the small patio, I sneezed. Well, sneeze was an understatement. It was one of those that your head flies all the way forward. I ended up losing my balance and fell onto Jordan's back, causing him to lose his balance, stretching his arms out and pushing the two twins in front of him who fell onto Craig. We ended up in a large pile, me being at the top, rubbing my nose sheepishly. "Excuse me." I apologised to the boys groaning beneath me. Sweet, sweet revenge...
Chapter 10
It took us all a while to get ourselves to our rooms and change, but we did eventually. I changed into just a hoodie and some baggy trousers and sat on my bed for a while, shivering. Seriously, that water was freezing! It didn't help staying in that wet clothing for as long as I did. But, I must say, it was worth it.
I leaned back, sprawling myself across my bed and gazed at the ceiling. How long had it been since I had that much fun? Even when it was just me and my mother, I had never had THAT much fun.
There was a knock at my door and I sat up. "Come in." I stated and it opened, revealing Jordan in sweatpants and a hoodie of his own. His complexion was still as pale as ever, though. I gave him a frown. "I suggest you get yourself wrapped up or even take a hot shower."
I heard him chuckle as he entered my room, closing the door behind him. "Says the girl who looks even worse." He chuckled and sat beside me on the bed. "But, seriously, you do look pale. And with that sneeze attack earlier, you really are starting to come down with a cold." He stated with a frown on his face.
